SmartBoom

The SmartBoom is a ute mounted boom sprayer designed to make spraying simple.

It features a mid-mounted, self-levelling boom for optimum handling and weight distribution. Standard sizes range from 10m up to 14m, with custom sizes and truck mounted models also available.

The manual fold boom features ball bearing breakaways and folds to less than 2 metres wide, overhanging the sides of most utes by less than 100mm for road legal transport. The breakaways are fully adjustable and automatically lock into transport and working positions. The outer wings also feature auto-reset breakaways. All pivot points of the boom are self-lubricating and are inline, so there is no twisting of the boom when spraying.

Boom height is controlled by an electric actuator, which features adjustable limit stops. This allows the operator to set their spray height with the lower stop, and raise the boom for folding, or to clear a fence line, and then lower it again to the pre-set spray height.

The air induction nozzles are protected by the boom, and fitted to non-drip wet nozzle bodies and stainless steel lines for easy cleanout and reduced pressure loss, and are separated into 3 sections. Standard on all SmartBooms are fenceline nozzles, which can be set to spray from 1m to 3m wide. The fenceline nozzles, section controls and boom height can all be activated from within the cab.

The SmartBoom is fitted with a low profile 800L tank, with other sizes also available. It features a central sump, allowing the tank to be emptied completely. The tank features a large hinged lid and sight glass for easy filling. There is also the option of a fresh water tank for boom flushing and hand washing.

A range of filling options are available. The sprayers come standard with a direct fill line for use with an external pump, which can also be used as a drain line for emptying the tank. An optional venturi fill is available for filling out of dams and creeks.

The boom sprayer is powered by a Kohler 7Hp electric start petrol engine for fuel economy and reliability. The engine includes a high output charging coil, to ensure the on-board battery is always charged.

Mated to the Kohler engine is an industry standard Bertolini triple diaphragm poly pump. These pumps are designed to withstand the harshest of chemicals and liquid fertilisers, and are rated to 15 Bar (218 PSI) and 75L/min. The engine, pump and suction filter are mounted at the rear of the sprayer. This provides easy access for maintenance, and also provides clear visibility of the pump sight glass.

The SmartBoom features a fully welded, lightweight and strong RHS frame. The frame provides protection for the sprayer components to ensure they are not damaged during loading or transport. All components are zinc primed and powder coated for maximum durability.

As with all Graytill products, safety and ease of use is a big feature on the SmartBoom. The boom sprayer features a fold away ladder and clear access to the tank filling lids and has a low transport height of just 1.4m above the tray. All controls are easily accessed and clearly labelled for simple filling, pumping rinsing and emptying. Our unique jacking system and storage stands allow the SmartBoom to be quickly and easily removed from the vehicle.

The SmartBoom is available in a range of specifications, from entry level manual pressure control, up to fully automatic rate and section control with integrated GPS. A large number of options are available to customise the SmartBoom to suit individual needs.
